Mass Effect The End by Laitiel Mass Effect The End by Laitiel
Quickie vent artz!

My take on Mass Effect 3 ending.

It was beautiful.
And green.

Hmm.. never too late for Batman quotes:

"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

Fear not though - that's why Shep's bro Javik is there
...to ensure she doesn't become the villain.

Aren't those the same words TIM uses during the ending, or at least it's something similar that much I'm certain.

Anyway excellent image, even if my own Shep went with destroy. She was suppose to die but she lived so who's to say EDI (which apparently she can) and Geth can't do so either.

I like the ending my shep chose destroy and survived. Though one thing is that I felt like the choices I made didn't really count towards the ending, I mean yeah they went to battle readiness but thats it. I wanted to see my choices played out more is all.

I'm not asking for a frickin' sugarcoated Disney ending just want to know my choices were worth something.

Hmm I think the cutscenes at the end do change depending on your readiness / assets. Well, apart from the Normandy in space for no reason... which is still a bit weird.

Hmm yeah. I get why most ppl were so pissed.. I didn't mind it that much though. To me... the journey was more important than its end ;P

Yeah And the fact that the two people who you had on the battle field suddenly are on the Normandy made me confused.

Like I had said the ending didn't bother me it was a good way to end Sheps journey. I already knew s/he would make the ultimate sacrifice even though if you chose destroy there is a major cliffhanger for shep.

A buddy of mine actually thinks that Shepard getting up and going to the Citadel takes place a while after, so Joker might have evacuated survivors and was trying to get them somewhere safe when the Mass Relay network went down. Surprisingly, the Synthesis ending is the only one that doesn't show Normandy's engines being ripped from the hull. And Shep surviving the Destruction ending is silly, it kills synthetics and Shep's part synthetic.

this could be what happens if you choose incorrectly, javik probably the only one in the squad that could bring himself to put Shepard out of his/her misery, btw just thinking about IT makes my brain hurt :)

I don't think the Reapers can be controlled. Vendetta (the prothean VI) said it himself that in every cycle there's a group that aims to do precisely that in the name of their race ...and it usually ends up being the most indoctrinated party which is in the end sabotaging the efford to stop the Reapers - doing precisely what they want.

yeah.....wait isn't synthesis basically what saren wanted to do, but destroy is the most morally questionable cause of EDI+geth, why do i get the feeling bioware will point at one little piece of codex and go "lol this is what you were looking for" *head explodes*

Heheh I do believe you're right XD

Control + Syntesis is what the Reapers want. Destroy is presented as the EVIL option and you are openly discouraged against it (EDI+Geth).. but since it's the only one where Shep might actually wake up back and Earth... Who knows. lol.

Not that I'm saying that killing your protagonist at the end of your game trilogy isn't a BAD way to end it, hell God of War did it and it was pretty alright . But speaking as a Paragon Shepard, who already sacrificed a whole bunch. Such as Kaidan, all the missing colonies from the Reapers, his old flame(in my case Ashley), Mordin, Legion, Thane, and his already once before LIFE. And STILL sacrificed a lot to bring peace to the Galaxy, like revealing the sabotage to Wrex and Mordin despite the getting more Salarian soldiers if you do, denying the Flotilla their final blast against the Geth so Legion can pass true intelligence to his fellow robots, or saving the Rachni Queen twice despite killing Grunt's team in the process. Things were already bittersweet as they were.

All I'm saying is that we at least deserve a HAPPY ending of some sort. I'm not picky, it could even be a block of text for all I care. All I DO care is knowing what happens to my friends after the war and the Reapers were dead, me and Tali retiring to Rannoch to get away from the ever Shepard worshipping media, and most importantly :icongrin--plz: NOT BLOW UP THE MASS RELAYS!! :iconfrageplz:

Lol well.. thank you for the walltext of spoilers on not-so-spoilery picture.

I get what you mean. Still, I was ok with the 'bittersweet' endings precisely because it's bittersweet and ambiguous. Epic-mega-uber happy ending does not suit the series imo. There is no such thing as 'happily ever after'.

Oops, sorry. ^^;

I don't want things to be absolutely perfect in the ending like Shepard achieved galactic peace or something. There can still be crap and consequences happening or popping up AFTER the Reapers are destroyed:). But I just think Shepard deserves at least ONE good thing in his/her life for all the crap he/she had to deal with for so long.:( Plus I believe killing him again is a bit of a copout considering that technically he was already dead. It's like shooting someone in the heart after they just got out from surviving a previous near fatal gunshot wound.

"It's like shooting someone in the heart after they just got out from surviving a previous near fatal gunshot wound."

What can I say? Welcome to the universe?

No really, the thing I appreciate about the series is that it doesn't sugarcoat anything (...mostly). I do enjoy happy endings and all that... but as I said - in this case it doesn't suit the 'verse.

I understand why people are disappointed though. Everybody was expecting some epic revelation and ending... and there was none.

Well excuse me for trying to have some FUN in listening and caring for the story. This is a game remember, it's supposed to be fun. :( I was depressed through most of the game since the Reapers frickin' showed up, no point to hammer it in more, ya know?

You know what ELSE doesn't suite the 'verse? Practically killing it! From a marketing perspective, HOW can Bioware make anymore ME games, because I know for SURE that this is the last one involving Shepard, when you practically destroyed the galactic society that supported Mass Effect like a giant mythical turtle. And if you mention, "prequels", I'm gonna be sick. :iconfrownyfaceplz:

Most people recently are believing all endings didn't even matter anyway. ESPECIALLY since most of it is apparently indoctrination by Harbinger. Which makes a LOT of sense if you think about it. :)

Well.. this is not as much 'own ending' as what might have been happening in 'real' while Shep's seeing...things.

The theories made me think too much lol. I still like the ending though.

First off, this is a wonderful sight for sore eyes; someone who isn’t tearing their hair out over the ending of ME3. I personally had no issue with the end. I didn’t fully like it, but I didn’t fully hate it either.

I love the texture and the whole idea of the piece. The last and ultimate moment where someone is at peace, even if it’s the end. Javik was very dutiful, so it seems appropriate that he would be the one doing this.
